WEBSITE DIARY

 19 Mar 2025

I checked our Website Diary to note that our last entry was done on 28 Dec 2024, almost 3 months ago.  At that time, I was planning to officially launch our project in Feb 2025.  Again, as in the case of so many project plans, I failed.

I believe it is appropriate for me to report the reasons why I failed to launch in Feb for the record.  From the commencement of 2025, I met with a series of minor challenges in life.  They included small repairs to the house and a couple of minor health issues, such as:

•    Leakage of the cold water tap in the bathroom
•    Breakdown of the ceiling fan in the bathroom
•    Hic-cup on the hot water system
•    Breakdown of the refrigerator
•    Shutdown for 3 days of our internet connection due to a storm
•    I was sick for almost 2 weeks
•    Issues with monitors on my laptop
•    Software issues relating to our Filing Project

•    Some minor things I forget due to old age.

They seem negligible to most people, but for someone who is in his late 70s, they present significant challenges.  Luckily, all the above challenges are water under the bridge and my Team, and I finally managed to arrive at a milestone in our Filing Project where we should be able to resume the momentum in the establishment of our project.  My present goal is to conduct our Official Launch in May.  Our Filing Team is moving full speed ahead to achieve this revised goal.

I shall be reporting other worthwhile events in the future entries in this Website Diary.

Our Filing Team had a meeting last night when we reviewed the progress of our project.  We managed to decide on the format in the creation of the metadata for the lists to be connected to the SharePoint program to assist with the searching functionality.

In the next few days, the Team and I will review all the document libraries currently saved in our SharePoint site to separate the ones to be used from those to be deleted so that we can come up with the Draft Unique Database based on which we shall produce our Test Drive Database for our project.

It is evident that there are still work to be done before we can knock off a Draft Test Drive Database to enable any interested party to personally take part in test driving some pragmatic data to experience the magic of our DVPC Filing Solutions, in our attempt to entice you to subscribe to our service and to avail yourselves to have instant access to your private and business databases on a 24/7 global bases, in getting yourselves organized, to prepare you to become successful in life.

We are working hard towards the above aim and my proposed Official Launch of our project is still May 2025.

About a week ago, we had a meeting when we decided on some important parameters in our task to create metadata to be used for the SharePoint program in assisting our project to quickly locate the whereabouts of our records & files.

We identified the pros and cons in the creation of our metadata through the processes of using the Lists and the Document Libraries.   We also conducted trainings for members of our team to create our metadata through the above 2 options.  We believe that our members have now access to 2 additional tools at their disposal in data creation, an important procedure in our DVPC Filing System.

Our next step is to continue with our tasks in the creation of the DVPC Test Drive Database.  As mentioned elsewhere in this site, the taste of the pudding is in the eating.  It is hoped that, by giving interested parties the opportunity to test drive our system, the experience thus gained will provide the best testimony in assisting the test driver in coming to his own decision,  on whether the DVPC Filing Solutions is an effective system, or an empty dream on the part of the person who conceived the idea in the first place.

I would like to update the progress of our Filing Project in this diary entry.  While most of the members of our team have been concentrating on the creation of our Test Drive Database, we also have assigned a member in the continued construction of our website.

I requested the member to investigate and to implement the necessary steps required to include:

1)    A Statistics Counter onto our website to track the number of visits to our site to be commenced on the date of our Official Launch, as well as the number of requests for Test Driving.
2)    An Instant Chat Box onto our website to enable questions to be asked by our viewers.
3)    A Payment Feature onto our website to facilitate payment of subscription fees by potential subscribers.

We encountered some issues to implement the above steps through the SharePoint Website.  We are trying to resolve the matter by exploring alternative options.  I shall provide update on the development later.

The slogan of DVPC Filing Solutions is “Database at Your Fingertips on a 24/7 Global Basis”. To achieve this, we need to provide a solution on how to convert data contained on hard copies into electronic images so that historical data saved in printed materials can be accessed through cloud storage.

In practical terms, apart from using the software provided by DVPC, DVPC needs to supply our subscribers with the necessary hardware and supporting stationery for this important migration process. By hardware, we mean the provision of a Speed Scanner capable of scanning 60 sheets of printed materials per minute, to save 120 pages of images and an Overhead Scanner capable of scanning materials unsuitable for the speed scanner, such as business cards and books & bound materials like instruction manuals.

By stationery items, we mean the provision of a sample supply of articles such as business card holders, arch files, hole punch, date stamp, and document dividers, etc. These items will form part & parcel of articles dispatched to our subscribers for them to process the hard copies and to systematically save them onto standardized format for permanent archive.

In preparation for the Official Launch of our project, there is a need for us to contact manufacturers & suppliers of the hardware and stationery items referred above. To this end, I am planning a trip to China to organize these supplies in around 2 weeks. I hope to report again on results of my meetings & discussions with the suppliers of the hardware and stationery items, so the subscribers will have a better understanding of the challenges we are likely to encounter in this area.
